Why do we do bonus episodes?

You might have noticed that there have been a few bonus episodes popping up on your timeline lately. We do these because sometimes we want to talk about something so badly, but it doesn't always relate to writing and might not be of interest to everyone - so, we stick on a mini episode where we can chat merrily away about whatever is on our minds and give everyone the choice about whether they want to listen or not!

So far we've covered Ru Paul's Drag Race Season 10, All Stars 3 and Eurovision 2018. Even if you don't know much about these shows or aren't keen on them, we do think that they are very funny, thought provoking and worth your time, so if you have a spare 20 minutes, give it a go!

If you have any ideas for a bonus episode, please let us know. You can tweet us @POWpodcastUK or email us at:!

Episode #14: Interview with Esther Fairfax & Jenifer Klepfer

Jenni is banished upstairs with her wine in a Sainsbury’s bag filled with ice, Marc is confused about exactly what Lotte Berk is, we’ve just completed (ish) our 5,000 word April writing challenge… we definitely need some self care! Join us for a chat about why looking after yourself is so important and what you can do for some important self care while you’re writing, or just living your life.

You can find to our 14th episode here...

This podcast features a wonderful interview with Esther Fairfax and Jenifer Klepfer - Esther Fairfax is the daughter of Lotte Berk, the creator of the Lotte Berk Technique, also known as ‘slutty yoga’ (although we found out after we recorded this that Esther hates that term!). Esther wrote an autobiography about her mother and her upbringing, and Jenni talks to her and Jenifer about the writing process, what they are writing now, and generally how to approach the wonderful ‘mish mash’ that is life and enjoying it for what it is. Apologies for the sound quality in this one, Jen really has to learn about microphone placement!

Order Esther’s book My Improper Mother and Me, watch Esther demonstrate the Lotte Berk Technique and find out more about the amazing Lotte Berk technique.

What we’ve learnt this episode:
  •  There’s never a right or wrong time to change your life and how we’re inbuilt to succeed
  •  How to break up with your phone – How we are getting with cutting down our phone use
  •  If you can’t look after yourself, how the hell you gonna look after someone else? (Sorry Ru Paul)
  • We reveal some self care tips, including the legendary ‘Stroke yourself’
  •  We shouldn’t try to sing “I Touch Myself’
  • Jen’s thoughts on How To Stop Time by Matt Haig, It Started With A Tweet by Anna Bell and how much she bloody loves Mary Beard
  • All of Marc’s loves are on Netflix, including Victoria Wood and French & Saunders
  • The Manic Street Preachers and Kylie have got new albums out and they are both so good!
  •  Jenni’s Nan doesn’t understand veganism

This episode is brought to you by white wine!
